Midweek Meditation - Almsgiving as Giving Love
Midweek Meditation

Almsgiving. I want to give love.
.
Not a shallow kind of love. I want to be attentive to the women at the door—their needs, desires, and dreams. My heart is wanting to show compassion and love for people wherever they’re at. Despite their circumstances or past.
.
I try to give love by meeting the needs of the women to the best of my ability. I go out of my way, and could be guilty of going beyond what I should give. But these women are deserving and some are just plain struggling. We all have to come to a point in our lives where we want something different, something more than what we are experiencing at the present moment. And it’s not easy getting there alone, we need support.
.
People often look at these women in a different light. They’re judged for how they present themselves to the world. I want to look beyond face-value; I want to look into their hearts and their humanity. Like God would. God would say “this is one of my beloved children and they need love just as much as the person who looks all put together.”
.
And we are all equal in that sense, in a God-sense. We are all worthy of love and care—that is what I have to offer the women at the door.
